Descripción
Finding the right monologue can often be a challenging task. Many monologue books rely on well-known pieces that have been heard repeatedly or are filled with aimless, uninspired works that are not even from actual plays. "Monologues They'll Remember You By" provides 80 (40 male, 40 female) engaging monologues from award-winning playwright Andrew Biss, allowing actors to create character portraits with depth and vitality for that crucial moment in the spotlight.
Divided into male and female comedic, dramatic, and seriocomic categories, the book also offers guidance on how to look beyond age and gender in many of these monologues to expand performance options. Each monologue is preceded by a summary of the plot, setting, and character profile.
The starting age ranges for most of the women's and men's monologues are in their 20s and 30s, with a majority beginning in their 20s. The age ranges are broad, and the author explains the reasoning in the foreword and each monologue's introduction.
All monologues in this collection are from published plays that have been successfully and critically acclaimed in productions in New York, London, Los Angeles, and other locations.
Whether for a professional or student actor, this book is a valuable resource for securing roles or winning competitions.
